Since 2 days the landscape has changed again. It is hilly and we like it. We pass superb terraces alternating with deep gorges. Our altitude varies around 2000 meters. Everybody is doing fine, we are in good shape. No injuries for the time being. The only difference from earlier days is that, due to the route profile, we cycle less and less together.
But, since 2 days we also are moving on historic ground. I mean recent Chinese history. Huining, yesterday, was the place where the “long March” ended. From 1934 to 1936 some 100000 soldiers from the red army traversed China, fighting the national army. Only 20000 men reached Huining.
Yesterday we visited another historic place, where the first red army command was established. Mao Dse Dong lived here for one year. His apartment and furniture are still intact and can be visited. To my great surprise, we were the only visitors in this important place.
