Sorry friends, my post will be short, and there will be no photos. I have amazing photos from Bukhara and Samarqand, but my netbook is dead, and I am posting from a Cybercafe. I'll try to get another netbook when my friends will join me in China on July 1st.
I passed the Tajik border without any problem. Osh is far away, and nobody seems to be concerned about the killings. Even the Uzbeks were surprised when I asked them if they did not feel upset that ethinc Uzbeks were killed in Kazakhstan.
Tajikistan closed its border with Kyrgyzstan, at least that is what Iheart. This morning on the border the customs officers told me it was open....
Anyway, Tajikistan is a beautiful country, with high mountains. The Pamirs are on the east side next to China.I climbed a 3340m high pass, on the worst roads I had in my life. One shock absorber broke 2 days ago, but we got it repaired and welded. One fog lamp is broken etc etc.
It took me 2 1/2ours to drive the worst part of 40 km, and 11 hours to drive the full 340 km.
I do not like Dushanbe, nothing interesting here. Police everywhere, I have been stopped and controlled 5 times in Dushanbe city' but did not have to pay.
Tomorow I will drive up North to Khujand, and will come closer to the conflict area.
I was completely stuck! Only with the help of Chinese road workers and their bulldozer, I was able to continue
Javohir and his friend who offered me hospitality in Khujand
