So there we are
Beijing
After 3 ½ month and 21361 km I finally have arrived. My friends have travelled for two month with me. Together we cycled 4340 km.
This was quite a tiring journey and altogether we lost some 36 kilos!
These last days our speed became much slower. Nobody wanted to admit it, but we did not really want to arrive. There were just too many amazing encounters, too many great landscapes, breathtaking temples and palaces to visit; I just could not get enough of it. I made exceptional encounters, ranging from the Chinese mercenary to the living Buddha, who blessed me for the remaining of my journey.
After quite a disastrous start in Kashgar, where we were ripped off, arrested and harassed by Chinese police things improved daily. People became friendlier every day, although there was always a language barrier. But often a charming smile is worth much more than a long speech.
Jason, our great guide managed to order different dishes of Chinese food every single day. This Chinese cuisine is so rich, no comparison with what we can order in our country.
As for our last stage, some Chinese cyclists joined us and together we cycled the last 40 km to finish at the Luxembourg embassy, where Mrs Krieger, the charming wife or our ambassador offered us a welcome drink and some real “Thüringer”, making us feel almost at home. Many thanks for that.
And, last but not least, a great Thank You, to my friends from DHL, who once more organized our logistics with their usual efficiency.
