I had an early start this morning. My sleeping bag is quite thin and my position was not so comfortable as to stay in bed for hours. Also the price of my room included no breakfast. So I left at 8 already.

I knew this day would be harder than the last one. Basically it was a copy/paste from yesterday, but with even more climbing. There were many construction sites as well which were really difficult to pass. Sometimes there was even no road at all and it is quite exhausting to handle a heavy bike on this kind of terrain. I also had to swallow a lot of dust.

I met two Germano-Swiss cyclists who came from south-east Asia. They cycled 11000 km so far, and will continue until next summer. They also have their own website: www.perrad.ch

This was my hardest day since I left Luxembourg! But I feel fine, have no complaints. My knees do not hurt anymore; I have no blisters and no muscular problems. So, can you imagine my shock, when I discovered this evening that there is blood in my urines! It is not the first time that I have this problem; the other times it was always after some intense effort. I hope it will be the same this time. The last two days were very hard, and tomorrow seems to become even harder! It will be only the day after tomorrow when the coastline will be flatter again. Hopefully by then my problem will disappear as it came. I called Lucien, my treating doctor, who advised me to take some antibiotics, and to drink as much as possible to avoid my blood to coagulate, thus causing bigger problems. At the moment I drink some 5 liters a day, which is a lot for me. But I also sweat a lot….

Anyway, there is not much I can do for now, and the next major town with a hospital is some 200 km away.

So, wait and see!

And drink water!
