When I left Istanbul last week, all my gear remained there, I had more important things to worry about. Luckily my friend Berna, who lives in Istanbul helped me to store everything in an underground parking, later than, she even carried it up in her apartment.
On Monday I mailed Sebastien Néré, from DHL Luxembourg, asking him to brin everything back to Luxembourg. DHL is my partner for logistics since 8 years, and has carried my luggage all over the world already, often under difficult circumstances. This time the task was a bit different:
- Everything was stored with a private person
- Nothing was packed
-It was the end of Ramadan, when many Turkish companies close for 3 days or even a full week.
So I did not expect to get any news before 2 weeks.
But then, thing on this side were improving, and I thought about eventually continuing my journey. So I called Seb yesterday to suggest him, his Istanbul should keep my gear for a few more days. Imagine my amazement, when he told me, everything was here already! I didn't dare telling what I wanted to say.....
Well, it is a good thing that my bike is here. I can give it a full service, and also check all my other gear before (maybe) flying back.
Something else which will interest you all, I am sure: DHL Luxembourg offers nowadays a Passport/Visa service, i.e. they take care of all formalities for your. At the moment this is only for embassies in Brussels, other cities will follow. Just bring your Passport, photos etc to Sébastien Néré (Tel:350 909 212) and he takes care of everything!
