Day 7 and 8 Brennerpass: easy

Lucky me: This was a peace of cake!

After a restless night in Landeck, a long descent took me to Salzbourg. Here I decided to start the ascent of Brennerpass straight away, spend a night at halfway, and finish the climb the next day.

Good idea. The climb brought me from Salzburg (+/- 700m) to Matrai (1070 m)
Easy climb in the shadow, gentle slopes.

Night in Matrai, but horrible pain in my left knee. I used huge amounts of ice and gel to cool it down.
Limped to the restaurant. Took the elevator to go 1 floor down.

Bad night, quite painful, doubting: What about tomorrow?

Next morning, early start, very cautious. But it went better then feared, the rest of the pass was easy. Only about 1 km of serious climb.

On top, I went for a real Italian espresso, then another one,. In Bressanone Spaghetti Carbonara:  Life is beautiful, God must be Italian.

Then the long descent to  Bolsano. Not as fun as expected, I had strong headwind now. I cannot complain, for the first week of my journey I had backwind all the time.
